This piece was commissioned for Mövenpick Hotel Melbourne’s recently-opened Miss Mi restaurant. We were asked to create a huge 10.5 metre artwork to hang within the space, designed to act as a visual representation of the dazzling, dynamic Asian cuisine on offer at the restaurant. We collaborated once more with greymatters studio, working alongside their architects to execute the client’s exciting vision. Over several weeks, Steve painted an enormous canvas in Fremantle, Western Australia, which was then photographed and sent East to be turned into the truly extraordinary textured mural. Designed to be the focal-point in their stylish restaurant space, the piece is both impacting and visually spectacular. The design has also been replicated on the building’s exterior and can be seen from busy Spencer Street by passers-by and commuters en route to Southern Cross station.
